Recently, Huawei launched the commercial notebook Qinyun L540 on an e-commerce platform, but this model is not available for sale on Huawei's official Qinyun website. According to the introduction, this notebook can be equipped with the Galax Kirin Desktop Operating System or the T-Union Desktop Operating System, and it adopts the Kirin 9006C chip. This chip uses a 5nm process technology and an octa-core architecture, with a maximum frequency of 3.13GHz. The starting price for this notebook is RMB 6,189.
At the same time, Huawei also released another commercial notebook, Qinyun L420, which has the same configuration as Qinyun L540. Both notebooks use the Kirin 9006C chip and integrate the Mali-G78 graphics card. They support LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 flash storage but do not support 5G communication, only 4G. The Qinyun L420 is priced at RMB 7,999 (excluding the operating system and pre-installed software).
On January 5th, semiconductor industry research firm TechInsights revealed a teardown report of the Qinyun L540. According to the report, the Kirin 9006C chip is manufactured by TSMC and has a packaging similar to the Kirin 9000 processor used in the Huawei Mate 60 Pro. It was packaged in the 35th week of 2020 and uses the same back-end-of-line (BEoL) stack and process node as the 9000 processor.
According to reports, this processor was first exposed in 2021 and was already used in the Qinyun L420 notebook, so it is not a newly launched processor by Huawei. TechInsights stated in the report, "China's manufacturing has made remarkable progress, and we eagerly await its further development in the 5nm process."
Earlier, TechInsights released a teardown report on the Huawei Mate 60 Pro. TechInsights Vice President Haché said that the level of the Kirin 9000S was astonishing and beyond their expectations. Huawei has indeed achieved great success in developing its own chips, and the Kirin 9000S is an advanced and even world-class chip.
It is reported that currently, the Qinyun L540 and Qinyun L420 notebooks only support customized domestic operating systems and cannot install the Windows operating system. Data shows that the Qinyun L540 is a domestic hardware architecture developed jointly with domestic ecosystem manufacturers. It is compatible with multiple parties, from hardware, operating systems, application software to office peripherals, and meets the mainstream office needs of enterprises.
As of April 2023, the Qinyun L540 details page stated that it is compatible with over 33,000 office and industry software and over 80,000 office peripherals.
